I have no idea for sure if they are 14"x5.5" or 14"圆". I have been told they are Chevy or GM rims. They are not solid, but have those elongated oval openings in them. They said they were Ford rims, but I have since been told that they are not. They cleaned them and painted them black for me. They came up with five of them from their stockpile of rims. A problem I have is that when I replaced those beat up, rusty wire 14" rims, I went to a tire shop and told them I wanted 14" rims for my '59 Tbird. That is about all this Bird needs in the way of fixing, except for a new interior and paint job. And there are the fuel and temp gauges that needs to be calibrated. There is also the radio that does not work.

I still have a drivers side power seat problem that I would like to get fixed. I have a power window problem on the drivers side that has cropped up now. I think I am going to put this project on the back burner and go on and get some other things fixed on this Bird. But unlike Bart, I dont have a dishwasher to throw them into to clean them! I guess I could get the wheel covers with the wires in them. I dont want to spend the rest of my life cleaning them. I doubt that I will put wire wheels back on her, though they look nice. (Thats probably not the right word for it!) But, eventually, we got them off. In fact, we had a hard time getting them off even with an electric sprocket tool. They also had some kind of wierd lug nut arrangement. Mine were rusty and not in the best of shape. That is what I took off this Bird after I got her. wheels and does not apply to other model KH wheels or over the counter FoMoCo service parts (replacements).Thanks for the information on the wire wheels. See the Restoration and Specification Manual page 220,221,222 and 223 for pictures and other details. It is possible to see the rivets when the wheel is mounted with a strong light if you know exactly where to look. It is not possible to feel the rivets with the wheel and tire mounted with the correct brake drum because of the depth and space available.
It is not possible to determine if a wheel is 14″ X 5.5″ if the tire is mounted because some are welded and some are riveted. I have shown the edge only to enhance the picture size of the 5.5 wheels Right wheel FoMoCo, KH, 5″, (Original Thunderbird) welded center, no slots, 2 5/16″ from inside mount to outer rim. Center wheel FoMoCo, KH, 5.5″, welded center, no slots,2 9/16″ from inside mount to outer rim. Left wheel, FoMoCo, KH, 5.5″ riveted centers no slots, 2 11/16″ from inside mount to outer rim. wheels, no slots, some had rivets, most had welded centers, used with 14 X 8.00 tires.
